Skydive Midwest - Solo Skydiving
SOLO SKYDIVERS - AFF (Accelerated Free Fall) - Skydiving Class
Skydive Midwest offers two ways for you to progress towards getting your skydive license. The first is the Solo/AFF (Accelerated Free Fall) Class and the second is the Tandem Progression Program. Both programs include 25 skydives and teaches you all you need to know to get your Class A USPA license.
SOLO / AFF CLASS
A student begins with 5-8 hours of ground school where you are taught how to exit the aircraft and the position to hold during freefall. You are also taught how to release the parachute and fly the canopy yourself. Don't worry, we walk you through the necessary safety precautions on how to determine if a canopy has opened correctly so you are fully prepared for what will occur in the air.
Upon completion of the course you will exit the aircraft with two licensed instructors who will help stabilize you in freefall and be there until you release your canopy. You will be responsible for landing the canopy yourself but an instructor will be on the ground to help guide you down via radio control.
This program builds upon each skydive and is a great way to jump into the sport, but if you are a little nervous then check out our other program.
TANDEM PROGRESSION (AFF - Tandem hybrid program)
Tandem Progression is a hybrid program of tandem and AFF skydives, each designed to progress your skills.
After three tandem skydives you learn basic freefall stability and canopy control. Next you attend the full AFF ground school (see above). Upon completion, you are ready for a solo skydive under the direct supervision of a highly skilled instructor.
This method of training gives you 3 skydives to learn to fly a canopy with the instructor right there with you, like a classroom in the sky.
