Some commonly asked questions:

Frequently Asked Questions

Skydiving is a great sport. We enjoy the satisfaction we get from making you a part of it. The adrenalin rush alone is enough to put a smile on your face, and we like making your time at the dropzone as fun as possible. Part of this is ensuring you feel as comfortable as possible by having the information you need before you experience your first skydive. Please review the following, and if there is a question or concern we have not answered please feel free to contact us.

Medical Conditions?

If concerned, consult your physician. We require you to complete a medical statement / release before training.

How do I get started?

Call 1-877-DIVE-OUT or e-mail us at: info@skydivemidwest.com to schedule. Walk-ins welcome, but priority goes to scheduled students.

How hard is the landing?

Skydive Midwest jumps state of the art square parachutes that enable the canopy pilot to enjoy soft standup landings. Our training program focuses on teaching you to be the best canopy pilot that you can be.

Is skydiving really safe?

YES, and then some. Advances in technology have greatly improved the equipment and jumping activities are regulated by the USPA to ensure you are trained by a licensed instructor.

How high, I'm afraid of heights?

Typically we jump 13,500 ft, which gives you an average of 55 seconds of freefall. Students rarely notice the difference between 4,000 ft & 13,000 ft so the fear of heights is rarely a problem.

How hard does the parachute open and does it go back up?

The parachute deployment (opening) is not bone-jarring, it feels more like being lifted at the shoulders. The canopy is a deceleration device and does not go back up. It only appears that way when the photographer who is in freefall continues to fall when the student slows down as the parachute opens.

A few rules for the dropzone:

Recreational pharmaceuticals and other controlled substances are not permitted and we will not take students who have been drinking prior to their skydive.
